Young Avenue Sound2258 Young Avenue Memphis, TN 38104 | (901) 726-6633
Founded in 2001 by Donald Mann and Cameron Mann, Young Avenue Sound was built with a mission in mind: to offer musicians a great place to create, to provide a space that inspires possibilities, and to equip people with resources to accomplish just about anything the mind can imagine. Basing the studio in the historic Cooper Young neighborhood in Memphis, TN was no accident either. The Cooper Young historic district has been been the place that artists have called home for decades whether it be filmmakers such as Robert Gordan, iconic musicians such as Jay Reatard, and even Johnny Cash, who performed his first show at the corner of Walker and Cooper.
It has always been the people who have made the neighborhood, and likewise, it’s the people who make the studio. Engineers and producers such as Calvin Lauber, Kevin Houston, James Joseph, Kevin Cubbins, Scott Hardin, Elliott Ives, Leo Goff, Will Deshazo, Curry Weber, and Isaac Daniel are regulars behind the board here and offer something more important than any space or gear and offer: soul, passion, and expertise to make every recording they touch something special.
Walking distance from coffee shops, restaurants, book stores, Growler stores, and crafts people, Young Avenue Sound is more than just a space to record. It’s a place that every artist makes their own home while they are there.
The studio is simply the medium. You are the message.

Dogs Rule Daycare & School2265 Central Avenue Memphis, TN 38104 | (901) 276-3210
Day Care is a wonderful way for homebound dogs to release some of their energy while owners are at work. Of course, there are many other benefits for dog and owner alike. Active Dogs aren’t so prone to destroy things at home like your favorite chair or pair of shoes. They will also become more at ease around other dogs and people. Puppies gain confidence and older dogs become more tolerant. Owners have the benefit of spending more quality time with a happy and mellow dog at the end of the day. They also don’t open the door to unwelcome surprises. With three outdoor playgrounds and two indoor playrooms, there’s a place for every dog.
All play areas are supervised by experienced wranglers who not only love dogs, they know dogs. They watch their behavior and know when a dog may be about to cross the line, stopping any trouble before it begins. The big and bouncy playground is reserved for the highly active dogs, who need to run, splash and play in the pool. The medium playground sports climbing stations and toys for the more mellow dogs to enjoy. The little dog playground has its own pool and lots of toys and laps for the smaller dogs to enjoy. Dogs Rule is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Central BBQ2249 Central Avenue, Memphis, TN 38104 | (901) 272-9377
Memphians know great BBQ and won’t settle for anything less. Central BBQ has been ranked in the top 3 BBQ restaurants in Memphis since 2003 and taken top honors ten times.
At Central BBQ we slow smoke all our meats: ribs, pork, chicken, turkey, beef brisket, sausage and bologna. Our premium meats are rubbed with a secret combination of dry spices, marinated for 24 hours, then are smoked low and slow in the pit over a combination of hickory and pecan woods.
No sauce is ever introduced into the pit.
You’ll want to try Central’s BBQ Nachos and smoked hot wings too. Save room for dessert — one of our resident hippies makes most of the desserts – so you know it’s good!
Craig Blondis and Roger Sapp met on the BBQ circuit in the mid-80s. After competing in Memphis in May’s World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest and many other local and regional BBQ competitions they made the leap from friends to business partners.
The pit at the first Central BBQ on Central Avenue was fired up in 2002 and from day one has been a success thanks to their wonderful customers.
Central BBQ has consistently been ranked #1 BBQ in Memphis since 2005. Craig, Roger and Central BBQ have appeared on several national TV shows including Pitmasters, The Best Thing I Ever Ate, Crave and BBQ with Bobby Flay. Additionally Central BBQ has been featured in several national publications such as USA Today, Garden & Gun, Southern Living and Men’s Health.

Why It Matters
Much more than just a beverage – craft beer is a critical component of our social, economic, and political well-being and has played a central role in nearly all cultures, past and present. In fact, that there is convincing evidence that the development of agriculture: widely regarded as the foundation of civilization, was actually based on the cultivation of grain for beer – not bread. Beer is the staff of Life.
Throughout human history, the drinking-place has been regarded a special environment. A separate social world with its own customs and values; a socially integrative, welcoming environment – whose primary function is to facilitate social bonding.
First and foremost – we provide individualized customer service. Every guest is unique and our knowledgeable staff is here to ensure that you get the most from your visit – whether it’s your first time in, or you’re a regular.
We offer a carefully curated selection of local & regional beers and a well-crafted food menu in a warm, friendly, atmosphere. We strive to be that place that binds people together – encouraging & reinforcing social hospitality through beer culture.

Hazel’s Lucky Dice Delicatessen946 S. Cooper Street Memphis, TN 38104 | (901) 272-0830
Hazels Lucky Dice Delicatessen is a return to my roots and my heritage. Raised in an orthodox Kosher home, every Sunday lunch was filled with Beef Fry lettuce, tomato ( beef fry is the kosher all Beef sister to Bacon) Tongue, Cornedbeef Sandwiches, cole slaw and moms potato salad. I was raised on Brisket, Tsimmis, Stuffed Cabbage, Matzo Ball Soup, Kreplach, and Plum Kuchen. When I started college at The Memphis Academy of Arts, I went to lunch at Burkle’s Bakery on Madison and the waitress asked me what I wanted. I asked her what was Catfish? She looked at me, with one raised eyebrow and her teased bright orange hair and said, “Shug, where are you from?”
Our summers and winters would be spent driving in my Dad’s Edsel, straight through from Memphis to NYC or to Miami Beach, where both sides of our family lived. During these visits growing up, my memories of sliding up on the bar stools at Pumperniks and Wolfies Delicatessens on Collins Ave or walking down the streets in Jamaica, Queens, NY where my grandparents lived, stopping along the way at the Bagel shops and Italian Ice stores, are stuck in my brain, like a long lost lover.
When I moved to NYC in 1980, I found myself, late night with the munchies, on the lower east side at Katz’s Delicatessen, standing in line to order the piled high pastrami sandwich and my favorite crunchy New Pickles. My go to eateries were all within walking distance of Katz’s, Russ & Daughters where I would get my gravlax on a toasted Bialy and then on to Yonah Schimmels for a warm potato knish. These were the memories of the lower east side of my youth and to this day I still spend my time while in NYC at these eateries.
The memories of standing side by side with your mother, grandmother, father or mentor, these are the memories that a chef and an artist remember, inspire and transforms us.
So I present to you Hazels Lucky Dice Delicatessen, named after my mom, an incredible cook and baker, who has kept the heritage and love light burning for 91 years. She is my inspiration for this new endeavor. Please come and enjoy…

Farm and Fig800 S. Cooper Street Memphis, TN 38104 | (901) 483-8282
Projected Opening – November 1, 2020
Farm and Fig was born in 2018 when the Grisanti and Henley family took over an existing catering company. Over the last two years, we have grown to offering Take and Bake Meals, Meals of the Week, Artisan Breads, made from scratch pastries and sweets and kids cooking classes. The name plays homage to the Grisanti Italian background. Figs are grown in Italy and many other countries on the Mediterranean. The “Farm” is symbolic of the Urban Farms at the Grisanti and Henley homes. The Grisanti family have chickens that produce an abundance of fresh eggs. They also have rabbits and of course, a few “barn” cats on their property in Midtown Memphis. The Henley’s have a small brood of hens and have gardens filled with herbs and vegetables.
Whether you want to serve your family a home cooked meal, just pick up a side or fresh bread for the office potluck, or have an event or holiday meal catered, we are here to help! We do all the work and you get all the credit. We pride ourselves in making available to everyone a home cooked meal without all the work. A delicious alternative to take out, by simply pulling a meal out of the refrigerator or freezer. Just cook or reheat it using our easy to follow instructions, and enjoy it with your family and friends.
We hope to continue the legacy of making good food to be enjoyed with good fellowship. Fresh food, fresh ideas, where food celebrates family. La Dolce Vita!
